The Scent of Secrets<\/em>, by Jane Thynne<\/a>, is historical fiction set in 1938 and published last month in the US and Canada by Ballantine Books and Doubleday Canada. \u201cThe novel richly fuses fact and fiction with a cast of real Nazis and their British admirers, such as the Mitford sisters and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor,\u201d according to its Goodreads page<\/a>. It \u201cputs a new spin on an ever-fascinating era, fraught with glamor, political tension, tragedy, and romance.\u201d What an interesting idea! <\/p>\n

To make things more confusing, it was published under the title A War of Flowers<\/em> in the UK and is the third in a series (although The Scent of Secrets<\/em> is the first of the series to be published in North America, according to this Q & A by the author<\/a>). The second book in the series, The Winter Garden<\/em>, looks like this:<\/p>\n
